Everest

In the Khumbu, the home of the Sherpa, the trails cross suspension bridges high above the Dudh Kosi and pass mani walls and Tengboche monastery, with Ama Dablam and Everest rising behind it. Trails and lodges are well developed. What makes the region serious is the altitude: base camp lies at 5,364 metres.
