Humla and Rara Lake

Humla lies in the far north-west, a long way from everything: you fly to Simikot and walk from there, on old salt-trading routes towards Tibet. The Limi valley has stone villages and a monastery about a thousand years old. Rara Lake in the neighbouring district of Mugu, the largest in the country, lies deep blue among pine forests at just under 3,000 metres.
